UCLA Visitor: Guest for 5th-Grade

5th grade had a special guest from UCLA! Ms. Torres visited Olive St. all the way from Los Angeles (UCLA) to explain to all the 5th-grade scholars, her experience as a young growing up in Mexico. As a 12-year-old girl, she moved to Porterville, CA without her parents and only her grandmother as a guardian. She shared with the scholars that she studied and worked very hard to be able to reach her goal and be a college student at UCLA! She shared a lot of very valuable experiences for the students and helped them realize that they can do anything they desire in life, as long as they set their mind to it and try hard. She left Olive scholars with this quote, "If I could do it, you can too!"

Conclusion

The College Week ended another successful college celebration at Olive St. School. Many kids enjoyed it and found it beneficial for future goals.
