Last Friday marked a truly special milestone for 26 families from Los Robles Elementary and Olive Street School as they participated in our very first parent-student college tour initiative. Together, families traveled to California State University, Fullerton and Griffith Observatory for a day centered on exploration, connection, and inspiration.
This experience was about more than just visiting a campus, it was about planting the seed for future possibilities. Students and their families had the opportunity to walk through a university environment, begin early conversations about college, and gain a clearer understanding of what higher education can look like for them. For many, this was their first time stepping onto a college campus, making the experience even more impactful.
The day continued with a visit to the Griffith Observatory, where families explored new perspectives beyond the classroom. From meaningful conversations to shared moments of discovery, the trip created lasting memories and strengthened the connection between school, family, and future goals.
This initiative represents an important step in building a college-going culture; one where students can begin to see themselves in these spaces and believe that higher education is within reach.
